As a traditional medicine, kencur is becoming a small part of the famous herbal medicines. Since the begining until now, kencur is very commonly used as a sore throat remedy.
Kencur can also be used to treat pain bloating by crushed or chewed directly. Other benefit include appetite enhancer, cough, dysentery, colds and many more.
Kencur benefits not only for traditional medicine but also can be used in the cosmetics industry, food seasonings and spices. As a kitchen spices, Indonesian people are already very familiar with this herbs. To treat cough: Grab some kencur, peeled and grated than take the juice squizeed. Takes for about three tablespoons three times a day until tha pain of cough disappears. You can add a bit honey to the freshly squeezed kencur in order to increase the usefulness.

Javanese People use these herbs to be mixed with rice. The mixture processed into frehs drink called "Jamu Beras Kencur". If you want a different flavor and aroma can be added with other herbs. Other herbs ingredients commonly added are cinnamon, ginger, tamarind, lemon, nutmeg, cardamom. Obtained by adding sweet taste of brown sugar, sugar cubes or white sugar.

Kencur is very well known in Indonesian Herbal Medicine. Although known to some botanists as resurrection lily, this camphor-scented rhizoma is known only by its local name in the countries where it is eaten. Kencur in Indonesia, Cekur in Malaysia and Pro hom in Thailand. These herbs are often found in almost seasoning, not only as a seasoning but also as a medicinal plant. This plant is subject to a lot of confusion, excerbated perharps, by its lack of a common english name. Some people refer to its zedoary, although this is actually curcuma zedoaria.
