As a traditional medicine, kencur is becoming a small part of the famous herbal medicines. Since the begining until now, kencur is very commonly used as a sore throat remedy.
Kencur can also be used to treat pain bloating by crushed or chewed directly. Other benefit include appetite enhancer, cough, dysentery, colds and many more.
Kencur benefits not only for traditional medicine but also can be used in the cosmetics industry, food seasonings and spices. As a kitchen spices, Indonesian people are already very familiar with this herbs. To treat cough: Grab some kencur, peeled and grated than take the juice squizeed. Takes for about three tablespoons three times a day until tha pain of cough disappears. You can add a bit honey to the freshly squeezed kencur in order to increase the usefulness.

Javanese People use these herbs to be mixed with rice. The mixture processed into frehs drink called "Jamu Beras Kencur". If you want a different flavor and aroma can be added with other herbs. Other herbs ingredients commonly added are cinnamon, ginger, tamarind, lemon, nutmeg, cardamom. Obtained by adding sweet taste of brown sugar, sugar cubes or white sugar.
